where my sister and I had converted our formal dining room to a makeshift studio (YAY, CONCRETE FLOORS!), and now all I have is a little corner by the stairs where my wheel is… I can throw, but I can’t do any metalwork, glass work, or painting… I may have to commandeer the upstairs, but it’s effing CARPETED. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Carpet’s OK for stained glass, but that’s about it. Carpet SUCKS!

Stupid AVID
After about three sleepless nights. A new system with AVID working. That is, if it doesn’t throw me any more surprises.
Now I’ll Finally get some work done.
Next will be some sort of mixer. Preferably midi control board, I know avid likes the digi002 but I’ve never really benefited from it. Maybe a Mackie onyx or if i wanna get fun with it. The Xone3d.

Plans changed when it became apparent that I wouldn’t be able to build a studio without owning land or a house. So, now I’m going to find a house…new goal.

I’m fixing a whole house! Why build a studio when you can live in it? :)

So I kind of ended up working on two studios. One at my parent’s beach house, and another small one in the basement here at home. I’m all set up with a swivel armature that’s nailed onto the bottom legs of a barstool. Such fun! I also made a shelf out of paintcans, buckets and house siding. ;) Creative!

So my parents have this building on with a dock. A beautiful beauilding near the water with a wall full of windows. Just needs gutted and cleaned. I’m already collecting supplies for it while I gather supplies I need for my summer art courses. I’m so excited! My dad is even letting me earn partial ownership of the land and building. It’s an old 60s resturant that was a woodshop and then a 1 bedroom house at one time. Has character and the water is very inspirational.

Lucky. I need to get some land first! :) I’m still in school, so I have to be mobile. I was thinking of a studioboat trailing behind a houseboat. ;) hehe. I like that idea, I should sketch it.

I was walking my dog, and saw that one of my neighbors had just finished building a nice looking addition on his house. I asked him who his contractor was. Then I walked my dog to the contractor’s house and asked him if he was busy. He said he had a month before his next project started. He could squeeze my studio project in right away. Talk about an impulse buy! I drew up some plans and elevations that evening and submitted them to the municipal zoning office the next day. I only needed the contractor to do the big stuff. I was able to save a lot of labor costs by doing some things myself. I painted the siding, installed the floor, and made all the interior trim, and painted the interior myself. Then I built a drawing table and all of the workbenches inside. My friend Ken installed all of the electrical fixtures. Now it’s a cozy workspace with electricity, gas heat, phone, and internet. I’m in my studio right now.
