My girlfriend, She, from college had her son K who was 7 weeks early – so instead of giving birth up in Fort Mac, she was down in Vancouver visiting with her son.
2 of my girlies and myself decided to throw her a baby shower yesterday. We setup an Evite for all know that she had come back home to visit and brought her bundle of joy with her.
We had about 10 of us there, with another girlfriend, Andy brought her 2 kids A & L. Plus my girlfriend, GG, is 7 months and due on Christmas Day. So there was lots of diaperchanging and heating of bottles and whiping hands, noses and drool.
We had a blast and it was good to see some friends who I hadn’t seen in a while – guess it is the year for babies!

Well realizing this and wanting to spend time with some of my friends as my school work has been heavy lately.
So I decided that I would organize a “finish your project(s)” party, whereby if one had a project that one wants/needs to finish, one could come over with it and spend a couple hours working on it. For example, if you scrapbook, make cards, put albums together, knit, sew, bead, bake(?)...pretty much anything.
This would allocate time to finishing it, as well as, socialize with friends and have fun. Plus a good excuse to work on some Christmas gifts, too. I invited about 8 people and will be adding my two sleeves into my dining table to create enough room and pull out all my art/craft supplies for all to use. This should be fun!!

I’ve read about this. You get a boyfriend and you want to spend every minute with him and then you realise you haven’t hung out with your friends for ages and they’re not to happy,so. Time too make more time for my friends.

First we sent flowers to her work with a note stating that she be ready on Sat @ 10:30am sharp and not to plan anything for the day. We signed the note ‘a good friend’ which had her guessing until Saturday who it was. (yes we were all played dumb! hehe)
W & I picked her up and surprised her – got her own personalized SURVIVAL kit with things like a huge magnifying glass, adult diaper, metamucil, pill case (filled with candies to look like pills), energy drink and other things to welcome her into old age. hahaha!
We didn’t tell her where we are going so we could keep her in the dark (control freak tendencies), so we headed to Horseshoe Bay where we had lunch at Troll’s with their famous fish and chips -MMMmm dee-licious! Then we took the scenic way back through Dundrave Village for a coffee and window shopping. Our next stop was Ambelside Park and we walked along the seawall as the sun poked through the clouds and rain stopped just in time. Hung out there for a while then it headed over to Kerrisdale whereby we had afternoon High Tea at the Secret Garden. It was a lovely experience and so tasty too!
Later we picked up G and all headed back to B-day’s place for pizza night and dance-off. That’s right the 4 of us plugged in our Ipods and danced for like 5 hours non-stop, well except for CAKE TIME yummy choco mousse cake from Whole Foods with singing candles!
I finally made it home about 3am, it was a long day – but soo worth it. Now I just have to scrapbook all the pictures I took of our adventure with B-day and friends as her final gift.

I was able to hang out with a couple of friends last night to celebrate a relaxin’ and very tasty chicken (I know it suppose to be turkey, but who wants to be slaving over a hot oven all day, plus it was their first Thanksgiving)
We were invited over for a Thanksgiving dinner to our friends, R&G, they did a fabulous job (as this was their first Thanksgiving here in Canada). They did the bird, rosemary potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, brussel sprouts, and gravy. It was lovely and we all had a great night just enjoying the meal, some wine and great conversations.
Oh I almost forgot, we also had pumpkin pie (which was organic, too) We had a great night, and look forward to them coming over to our place for dinner soon.

My BFF is going to be celebrating her birthday next weekend. So W and myself are planning something special as she is an awesome friend.
We are going to send her flowers to her office on Tuesday with instructions not to make plans on Saturday and to be ready @ 10:30am sharp! We will then present her a Birthday Survival Backpack with many little goodies, and joke gifts with little sentimental notes attached.
Then on Saturday, W & I will pick her up and head to HS Bay Ferries and walk on and head over to Bowen Island for the day. Take her out to a lovely local restaurant and walk around the beautiful island and view local artisans. Then head back around dinner time to her place for a simple meal and movie of her choice while enticing ourselves of liquid gems (martinis!)
All the while, I have been documenting her special day with my digi camera to make her a keepsake scrapbook to present to her later as her final gift (that will keep on giving as to catalog our memories).

It has been a couple of hectic weeks lately. One of the girlies from the bookclub invited us over a couple weeks back.
Now it is our turn to invite them over and share a meal and some wine (for exception of me due to my other goal) and just hang out – maybe jam (well the guys will be doing this) or play some cards or watch some Flight of the Conchords? Who knows?
But we are looking forward to this little dinner soiree this Thursday night. Now what do I make? Hmmmm…

I am so excited – as there are so many interesting places to eat on Main Street, plus we always have fun and it is good to see her again. Hehehee

Ok, the plan is to meet up at my friend’s place and then the 5 of us girlies are going to head to beach for picnic. We are all bringing some food to munch on and drinks to keep us kool.
Destination: Jericho Beach
Reason: Just Because We Can
Date: Tonight
Those Involved: me and 4 my other girlies
After our picnic, we are going to all learn how to play Texas Hold’em with poker chips while watching the sun set at the beach.
Simple things can sometimes be the sweetest rewards in life.

I love all my friends and treasure them dearly. Although I have a couple groups of friends, I do miss hanging out with them like we used to.
“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art… It has no survival value; rather is one of those things that give value to survival.” – C. S. Lewis
My BFF, I have known her since Grade 3 (over 20 years of friendship) and we have this special relationship where by we try and hang out once a month (or more). Just us or with the boyz (my hubbie and her BF and her dogs) or just the girlies. But even if we don’t chat or email for a couple days or weeks. We understand regardless of lack of communication, we still are kewl (doesn’t get bent out of shape like some other friends I used to have, if we didn’t talk for a couple days or weeks)
Also have another group of friends from college who I have all known for ove 10 years, who I used to hang out all the time. But some have moved away and other than an email every once in a while to keep in touch. We always try and get together at Christmas to hang out and see each other. But I would like to see them more often. It seems that some of them have become too “busy”.
Then I have another group of friends who I work with or have worked with previously (friendships range from 2-7 years). We keep in touch via email or meet up for coffee and catch up on each other’s lives. Always fun to see where people’s journeys take them.
I have made recently made some new friends through the joining of a book club. They are all lovely and wonderful people. And I look forward to getting to know them better as we meet up and discuss our books.
