Well I officially started this last semester when there were free capoeira classes, and unofficially started it the first time I played Tekken 4 and beat the arcade mode with Christie Monteiro. Going to keep up the classes and maybe get over that tricky little fear I have of handstands ;)

Well, seeing as I was unable to get into my required capstone class on campus, I decided to drop the extra physical activities class I was taking (including capoeira) to save myself the cost of tuition. However, I’ve looked up a few reviews for some places that teach it near home. I am thankful to live in a city that has about three different capoeira schools. I’ll probably save starting this up until after my Taiko performance in October, though.

The Summer is my last quarter for working on my undergrad degree. I only have one seminar class to take that I couldn’t get into during the Spring quarter. Seeing as I already have to drive to campus for the seminar course, I thought I’d sign up for a few fun classes to get me started. Lucky for me, it appears that they recently added a Beginning Capoeira course to the physical education department. I figure, this will be a good way for me to get an introduction of Capoeira for free (or at least for what I’m already paying in tuition) before I move on to anything more in depth or challenging.
The first time I saw a Capoeira roda was during a pep ralley in high school, nearly 15 years ago. Ever since that day, I’ve wanted to give it a whirl. Now, if I can only get myself to wake up early enough to get to class in time.
I finally tried capoeira! SO MUCH FUN!!! I’m signing on for lessons twice a week. So far, I suck. I’m so very out of shape. But you have to start somewhere, right?
im so fat and unfit, today a girl grabbed my bozzom and announced i had boobs, im a boy so that matters!dont laugh!
i try capoeira and really hope i get good at it, but my parents have the idea that anything classed as a martial art is like an evil religion! even though i showed them capoeira history etc, its hard to keep up with my life and school and always havig to do stuff that i dont have time to do what i want: capoeira, which is extremely exhausting for me, im not very flexible either! although capoeira makes me feel awesome until i make a huge fumble, anyway im trying to mix it secretly with some mantis kung fu.
Pecinpah thinking about the future...
I did capoeira for 3 years. Eventually I dropped out in favor of a practical martial art, but there really is nothing that can take the place of capoeira. It’s a dance, a fight, a song, a work-out, and a social circle all wrapped up into one lively whole. Super fun and worth checking out.
I still play around in the park now and again, but it’s really something you need to do every day to be any good at. I may get back into it at some point, but it can be a time-sink if you let it. Still, fun though.
I found a couple of places that offer classes in the area. I plan to try it out as soon as I get back from Easter with the siblings.
I started practicing capoeira for a few months about a year ago, but I hurt my knee and had to have surgery, so I quit. Now my knee is much better and I really want to get back to capoeira.

“What is the common warm-up before the actual class? I heard it's 200-500 cocorinha squats, is this 200 straight or with a 10 seconds break between 70 or so? Thanks.”
