redesign blog

haha well .. i changed the template! done deal .. new design!

but i felt i cheated myself – so i spent all weekend reworking the theme/template to make it more personalized

I’m working toward a redesign by month’s end, but it’s going to be close – too many things, too little time.

Wordpress rox and so do all the plethora of plugins available for it. It is a constant work in progress, and next I plan on getting all my flickr photosets to show up on my photo page. I’ve also figured that even though most of my work is not, personally I’m more of a minimalist type a girl, and I cleaned up the css a lot to reflect that. Rock on.

So I get all my sheets loaded and I start digesting what it is to have secondary pages.. man I’m going to need new style sheets.. I’ll take from my new one but I need to redo the math and layout a little. More time than I have at the moment..

It’s never simple, nor easy, and if it is, something’s about to break.

I completed my work through the day and into the evening. It’s not the entire site, but it’s got a facelift. Let me know what you think if you have time. I know in IE it’s not perfect. I think I’m going to setup the secondary pages with a tight top and a left bar that will act as a meta lookup idea, keywords, relevent other articles, etc.

Gotta give it to MT, it doesn’t take much to get a lot of gas.

After I got done with a slew of household needs I sat down and got a little more headway into my redesign. I eliminated the calendar in favor of the MT BlogTimes plugin. Not clickable but shows post frequency on as a date chart which is kind of neat. I’m still not sure how I am going to handle my IE misalignment. I really like how the page is starting to look under firefox but under ie the right side of the page bleeds like 4px more.. too bad I can’t scrawl in there “this is because IE sucks”

If I can get another night like tonight, max two, I think I can push this out, and make a few scaled down versions for secondary pages. I’d like to get this behind me though, talk about an old anchor.

I’ve been trying for months to finish my remodel. It seems like every time I get close to finishing it, another browser check and it looks like crap or alignment is out of wack, or something. I just want a clean looking personalized site that allows me to have enough anchors of myself visible that I can feel comfortable with.

• Box displays in different Browser (see the calendar in IE vs Firefox)
• Final decision on extra-info/boxes to display on main page
• Proof CSS for design flow flaws (img div needs padding)
• Drill style down through site
• Create About Me page

Maybe I can use some of this Easter break to get it closer..

Actually think of a design before i start coding. Have a final picture in mind. Get away from the two column with header theme. Incorporate all the css into Wordpress.
