working with animals again has allowed me to give of myself and continue the work Steve did… I have been working every Friday for a few hours with shelter cats. I love it. It is so rewarding. Goodbye, Steve. We miss you, but we will carry on and continue to help the helpless.

I hear the song “True Blue” by John Williamson I pause for a moment and think of Steve-o.
I shall only be finished doing this once I do something specifically in the name of Steve. Gotta find an animal to adopt or something. Hmm…
..and I am pissed off that PETA is defaming him after his death, saying that he wasn’t a wildlife warrior. PETA just goes too far. I am happy with so many of the things they have done, but in many other instances they are too extreme. Steve did a great deal for animal welfare over the years, and because PETA doesn’t think Animal Welfare activists are as perfect as they are (they are Animal RIGHTS activists), they denegrate the GREAT work he has done.
Just here lately they have been dissing Al Gore because he is not going far enough with his activism by taking more of a stance regarding animals.
Well guess what, PETA, we all have to pick our causes, and do what WE believe is right. Why spend your time and energy dissing people who are already doing good works??? Instead, take that time to go after the people who are not only NOT doing good works, but are breaking the laws. You can’t tell me that you’ve run out.
Rant off. For now.

If Steve Irwin was still around he would have just had his birthday…2 weeks ago.
I miss you Steve!
I miss him. I keep seeing him on tv every once in awhile in various shows or whatever, and for a second I almost think he’s really still alive, but then I remember and he’s not.
I must get back involved with my wildlife volunteer work. I haven’t done a thing with the animals since my accident last April. Once I get back to it I know I can move on because I’m continuing his work.
To a wonderful man who brightened the lives of thousands of people through his actions, outreach, and amazing charisma. To you, Steve. I will always miss you.
I watched it all… and managed to hold it together until little Bindi came on. John Williamson’s song True Blue has always had special meaning for me too. It was a perfect service for Steve Irwin, beautiful.

there is a memorial service for Steve Irwin, showing on Animal Planet. Eastern time, it showed from 9-10, so in a few hours, you could probably see it, Pacific time.
Anyways, it was really moving. I cried a bit. Especially when Steve’s best friend, Wes, was up there. He cried while giving his speech.
And his dad! He’s dad’s speech was moving. He said {I’m paraphrasing}, not to grieve for Steve, he’s in a better place. He said to grieve for the animals who have lost their best friend.
