How I did it: It's New Years Day.. Happy New Years :)

I didn't get much sleep last night, for reasons no one could imagine.. not the traditional New Years celebration by far.

But, before I headed out to work this morning, I ran some errands for my mother. Really, it was just a quick run to the store to pick up eggs and such; waffles for breakfast :)

Outside the store, a woman was sweeping in the streets. Now, I should mention that this was at 9:00 am in the morning. The weather was fiercely cold, and she had no gloves.

I gave her pocket change and she monotonously thanked me and wished me well.

I picked up the supplies very quickly and made my way to the cash register to pay when a whiff of freshly baked pastry caught me and curtailed my footsteps to its counter.

The gentleman placed the assorted hot pastries in a box and wished me a pleasant day. That's when I remembered her outside sweeping. She had no gloves.

I hurried to grab a few boxes of juice, paid for everything and rushed outside. Just as before, she was sweeping and cleaning.

Our eyes met and I motioned for her to come near to me.. we met half way through the street and I extended the bag and asked her to take it. She thought I wanted her to help me carry it to my car.

I smiled and told her that this was some breakfast I picked up for her..."Don't let it get cold" ;) She looked at me in shock and amazement and mouthed out a heartfelt prayer....my heart felt it.

She patted my arm.... and then we both went our separate ways. The interesting thing is that, until this moment, going through my list, I'd forgotten I added this as a goal. And when I read it, I'd forgotten what I'd done this morning.
