Become a professional photographer

My first wedding went great!! I’ve got some great shots. Since I have started my business and created a website – www.thegoodlifephoto.biz – check me out. I also become incorporated and purchased a booth at a Wedding Expo. All in all not too bad two months work I’d say. I have been promoting myself like crazy at my part time job and with friends and I am looking to get a lot of bookings shortly from the wedding expo.

I guess I would consider myself semi-pro? I do not do photography fulltime but I have done stock photography since 2006 and am somewhat successful. Plus I do a lot of model, portrait and catalog work. I still have a regular full-time job outside of photography as well… so I will have to figure out how I define “pro”. :-)

Just skip photographing weddings. These are such highly emotional events it is very difficult to make everyone happy or get everyone to cooperate. Taking pictures of the BMX bike racers is much more fun. Lizards too make rewarding portraits.

I guess I have to start submitting.
I find other things to do while I’m online…lol

And, I’ve already made some money on people downloading my work, so I’m excited! I’m ready to make more!

Ok, so i am trying! I’ve been taking classes and looking into workshops to learn more. I’ve joined a local photog group, F32 which opens alot of avenues and puts me in touch with alot of talented people! I have an awesome teacher I took some classes with,who doesn’t seem to mind me asking alot of questions and let’s me tag along on outtings! I’m also planning to post some work online for sale. Taking photos has always been a passion of mine and once I get a professional photographers camera..I am going to start doing some freelance work and get my name out there! Hopefully within a few years I’ll have my photos being published in magazines and other articles.

i love photography, and i have the patience and passion for it. maybe not as a sole career perhaps.. but this is something i would love to do
