I have wanted to do this ever since I was a small child and read A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court for the first time. I was planning on going to Easter Island for next summer’s total solar eclipse, but I am going to London next summer, so I may have to wait and go to Australia in 2012, but I definitely intend to do this one.
How to see a total solar eclipse
How I did it: Well, i was very young when it occured,so I just have a vague memories of it.
We were all packed in...not let out...had to watch it thro' special glasses from a single window which was opened for us to view the eclipse.
It was very confusing back then...
And this time it happened again...on 22nd July 2009..but the weather let us down...it was pouring n washed out all our hopes of watching the total eclipse!
Lessons & tips: Nothing much I can say..except..if you ever encounter a chance to view a total eclipse...don't miss it.
Resources: Resouces...my parents (back then)
But these days...the info is everywhere...all over TV,newspapers, internet.
People doing this are also doing these things:

I can get there pretty easily, but wonder if the crowds will annoy me too much to make it fun… hmmmmm
russellviii Getting ready for the summer's last vacation
On this date a total solar eclipse will transit North America. The area of totality is just a couple hundred miles from my home.
Can you guess where I’m going to be on this date?
I am so there!
I heard this only happens once every 90 years? last time was 1999 and i saw it through my eclipse glasses on a ferry off the coast of france. darkness lasted 2 minutes…magical! have it on video. I’ll be 99 when the next one happens! lol
wikipedia says the eclipse path is “Southwestern South America, French Polynesia, totality across southern Chile and Argentina, southeastern Polynesia”
So not sure exactly where i’ll be. Maybe i can work Easter Island on this trip
Did this several years ago on a ferry in the middle of the English channel but really want to see another one, if not make it a regular thing and follow them around the globe wherever they may be…
I think this is the most beautiful thing I have seen in my entire life.

Saw it in Romania. Quite a madness it was – Romania released a special issue of their currency (coin and bill) featuring the eclipse.
