Does anyone around here have a vehicle they’d teach me on?

Haha i did try this once, and i technically can and if i were in a situation where i had to… i could always lean out the window and yell at the person behind me to back up or they will get run over when i try to start on a hill that i never before realized was a hill.

Driving a Stick 1 year ago

Useful skill! Need to learn!

Untitled 1 year ago

I always wanted to learn to drive a stick shift. Unfortunately, by the time I turned 16, my family no longer had any manual transmission vehicles. Once when I was in high school, my uncle let me into his Toyota Paseo to show me the basics, but I never quite got the hang of it. But less than year ago, when I was buying my first car, my dad visited me so I was able to get a manual transmission Mazda RX-8 and he taught me how to drive it.

Driving a manual 1 year ago

If you can drive an automatic you can learn to drive a manual, it’ll just feel a bit like when you first got in a car to drive and you might think you’ll never be able to do it. But you will! Plus you already know all the other stuff about signalling and manouvering so it’s only a few extra bits to learn and once you’ve done it you can drive any old car.

Being English, most of our cars are manuals, in fact we joke that they only make automatics for the old, lazy or disabled. You have to pass your driving exam in a manual to get a Driving Licence in the U.K. If you take your test in an automatic car, you get a Driving Licence that restricts you to automatics until you take your full Driving Licence exam.

I just bought the car I've wanted since I was 15! 1 year ago

AND IT IS STICKSHIFT!

I have never owner a stick before, I have driven my friends cars before to learn but I was never that good at it.

I will learn fast! Test driving a bunch of stick shift cars was a little stressful especialy private owners…

Take a look at my car:

today i drove my dad to the mechanics house to get his vw golf. damn its cute! he bought a 5 speed honda about 3 days prior but then he saw this vw for $900 & i guess he just liked it a lot more- i sure do. anyway, when we got back to the house, he was like “wanna learn how to drive it?” i really really wasnt expecting that, because it had just started to rain a little. but he did!! we went to a warehouse area & i learned in about 15 min. i still have a little trouble sometimes taking off at 1st, but the only way to learn is by practicing. i tried to learn in 2001, my boyfriend at the time had a 5 speed… but he didnt have much patience as i was fucking up his car, i guess. i’m really glad my dads teaching me. good times. i’ll never forget it. just like when he taught me how to ride a bike.

got a 5 speed within my reach! 1 year ago

my dad just bought a 96 vw golf, because his 8 cylinder truck was guzzling too much gas… he still has his truck, the vw is only for to and from work. He’s already mentioned teaching me how to drive it. he’s off on the weekends, so hopefully i’ll get to learn a little bit tomorrow, or next weekend.
