publish my thesis

As I am getting closer to the thesis process, more and more of my fellow students are talking about just getting through thesis. Making it as easy as possible. I need to remember I went into grad school with the goal of getting my thesis published.

I think I’ve got a good MA thesis, or at least the basic beginnings to a good one. More than anything else, I think this is about making up for lost time. I got derailed on the way to grad school a few times and publishing at least a heavily edited version in a good journal will let me know that the ten years of jobs I hated just keeping body and soul pasted together wasn’t wasted, that it helped me to be a better historian in the long run.

Programmatic compression is relatively a new method of data compression. It
represents a big interest for researchers from around the world, for of its potential, as we
can compress any type of data as well. Internet traffic continues to double approximately
each year. Multimedia files have an important role in this growth. With Programmatic
Compression Method we can compress big size data into small sized computer
programs or mathematical formula. It uses the main characteristics of computer program
or mathematical formula to generate data. Genetic Programming is a technique that
allows us to discovery a computer program that gives as output some given data. The
only problem in applying genetic programming for programmatic compression of sound
is the sound complexity and its chaotic oscillatory characteristics. This thesis aims to
introduce a new method of waveform curve smoothing. Smoothing the chaotic curves
can help Genetic Programming System to find a computer program that can
approximate large sized data. The purposed method of smoothing uses the main
geometrical characteristics of waves. After more experiments on smooth curve of sound,
Genetic Programming System showed good time in finding solution. The decompressed
sound is quite intelligible. We also will discus about dividing waveform data into subset
of data that follows a reduced range of frequency, which contributes to perform
successful compression of sound. Another aspect discussed in this paper is the benefits
of using genetic programming for reducing the variety of data.

My thesis is listed on amazon.de, now. That makes a “Done!” for this goal. Accomplished. Worth doing. :)

Another step in aftermath. Today, I got a draft for the cover of my thesis. They made clear, they’d go over that cover only once.

There were some kinks in it, but I made clear, I want them out, and am sure, they’re professional enough to deal with that demand.

Today I received the confirmation of the publisher that they received my thesis and stuff. :)

Amidst the night I noticed, in the less-than-351-characters spanning CV, I claimed to research on content representation – which needs to include to have papers out and online, which I don’t have …, so I sent a mail then, asking them to swap out the “researches” for a simple “works on”. – Unfortunately, I don’t have any confirmation for that, yet. ... Would be seriously embrassing if the publication claimed that for me, but someone looking for such works of mine couldn’t find any, neither in catalogues nor online. That’s because I simply didn’t publish on that topic, yet.

Despite I had the fortune the publisher to ask me for a permission to publish my thesis, I had to take quite a few steps to get done with that.

I completed reworking the thesis
yet a few days ago, and accomplished suggestions for my in-book CV, book title, search terms/keywords and back cover text yesterday.

I even managed to get done the issue about the bow tie and to get a recent picture of mine.

On second thought, no-one actually needs to read my thesis. Interpretation of archaeological sites in urban contexts – does anyone besides me actually care about that? Nah.

what a wonderful feeling of relief! after two years of procrastinating, i finished the revisions and sent it off. now all i can do is wait. . .

i was able to do quite a bit last week, but didn’t finish by the end of the week, with a manuscript in the mail, as i’d planned. i think i can get it done by this friday. . .

i should have made this goal “revise thesis and put in mail”! that’s all i really have any control over.
