Stuart Gilbert doesn't want to have to update a status on every website he goes to...

    103/500 3 weeks ago

Today was quite a slow day really. I finished listening to Document by R.E.M. from several days ago and then I listened to Heaven Up Here by Echo and the Bunnymen.

Still, any progress is good progress on a huge goal like this.

    More done. 4 weeks ago

Before I updated my operating system and broke my sound drivers I managed to listen to the following albums:

Tunnel of Love by Bruce Springsteen
The Paul Butterfield Blues Band by The Paul Butterfield Blues Band
    Radio by LL Cool J

Puts me on 101 albums! :D

3 more down, and a recount 4 weeks ago

Today I have only listened to three albums on the list.

    Faith by George Michael
Armed Forces by Elvis Costello and the Attractions
Life After Death by The Notorious B.I.G.

I did a recount of the list and it appears I missed one somewhere along the lines.

My current count puts me on 98 out of 500 albums. So close to 20% of the way there. I still feel a very, very long way from the end though.

Quite a bit of country music today 4 weeks ago

I’m currently listening to Branded Man by Merle Haggard.

    I’ve already listened to:
All Time Greatest Hits by Loretta Lynn
    Voodoo by D’Angelo
    Guitar Town by Steve Earle

That’s quite a lot of country music, with a very different style of music from D’Angelo. I’ll be glad to reach some bands that I know a bit better to be honest.

I do like country music a bit, but not enough to listen to random country artists from before I was born for half a day. :P

94/500 and counting when this album’s over.

Good progress today 1 month ago

I realised that I’d forgotten to cross off Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins. So that’s another one to add to the count.

I’ve listened to the following albums so far today:

All the Young Dudes by Mott the Hoople
    Vitalogy by Pearl Jam
That’s the Way of the World by Earth, Wind and Fire

I’m also close to the end of:

    Entertainment! by Gang of Four

That’ll put me on 90/500 by the end of the day. Getting close to the 20% mark. :D

    Bottoms up 1 month ago

I’m going to go through as many as I can from the bottom up now.

Unfortunately I’ve already stumbled over one album not on Spotify. I’ll come back to those ones later on.

    Listened to:
    Kiss – Destroyer
Public Enemy – Yo! Bum Rush the Show

Listening to Cyndi Lauper – She’s So Unusual

    That’ll put me at 85/500.

    Spotify! 1 month ago

I just realised how useful Spotify is going to be for completing this goal way faster than expected. Most of the remaining albums will be on there, so I should fly through them!

I realised that I forgot to add Albert King – Born Under a Bad Sign to the list of albums I’ve listened to. That puts me on 82/500 and I’m planning on listening to another couple of albums today.

    81/500 - I missed some! 2 months ago

I just realised that there were a couple of albums (at least) that I hadn’t crossed off even though I’d listened to them.

    Smashing Pumpkins – Siamese Dream
The Strokes – Is This It?

I think I might take a break for a while when I reach 100 albums. I also might just listen to the top 100 and leave it at that. I don’t want to listen to 400 mediocre albums picked by guys in their 50s who don’t like more than 4 albums produced in the last two decades.

79/500 - Fugees and Jethro Tull 2 months ago

Over the last few days I’ve listened to:

    The Fugees – The Score
    Jethro Tull – Aqualung

There were a couple of good Fugees tracks and a couple of good Jethro Tull tracks, but I don’t think I’ll be listening to them very much again.
