move to costa rica

The car is for sale, then I’m off for at least 3 months!

I moved to the Guanacaste region of CR last year and I love it.

I lived in Costa Rica for a year in 2000. I fell in love with this country so deeply that I have always felt a sense of loss since coming back to the states. I recently went back in May and knew that there was no other place I could be truly happy. My family and I have decided we want to move there and open a hotel in or around Monteverde. How or when we do not know, but I know it will happen.

I went to Costa Rica in 2005 and absolutely loved it.
One of my best friends who was on the trip and I have decided we want to move there one day, after we finish college and whatnot and her boyfriend and my girlfriend are hoping to tag along. She and her boyfriend are hoping to teach english (they are education majors), I am planning to free lance write for magazines in America/write books/maybe teach english too, my girlfriend doesn’t know what she’ll do, perhaps teach surf lessons at a hotel (shes a great surfer). Perhaps we will open a hotel or shop ourselves.
We’re hoping to live on the beach, and have already found some conceivably affordable houses on the Golfito, and the pacific ocean.
Discussing it is one of our favourite things to do!

I wonder why fear is so overwhelming when you want to try something new…especially when you KNOW it is something you really want to do. It’s been nine years since I first went to Costa Rica and have been wanting to move there. I am so close now (a few months) and I still haven’t packed up my house or made arrangements with my kids citizenship (my husband is a Tico). I just want someone to wave a magic wand and have me and all my stuff just magically appear over there. Unfortuneately it hasn’t happened. I need to get moving. I am motivated. I do not want to continue working. We are all ready but….......

I just got home from Costa Rica on April 14th 2006. All i want to do is go back. My boyfriend and I are going to open a shop or a hotel of some sort. Im so excited…...now, if i only knew what step 1 of moving there was…...

Im open to anyone’s suggestions or tips. :)
