Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was an awesome book 2 years ago

The movie had it’s good points and it’s bad points. I liked Alan Rickman as the voice of Marvin, the depressed robot. I also liked Zooey Dreschel (Sp?) as Trillian. I also liked Mos Def as Ford, and John Malkovich as the one guy with the head and robot body. But I liked the BBC’s version’s Zephod Beeblebrock, and their Arthur Dent. I didn’t buy Luke Wilson as Zephod, and can’t remember the new one’s Arthur.

The book is fantastic, and far better than any movie in the hands of a highly imaginative person. I also recommend reading the sequel, Restaurant and the End of the Universe.

Good thing it took Douglas Adams so long to make the movie. I think he had plans to make it something like 20 years before it happened, but it failed due to movie execs who didn’t know anything about art or comedy. I’m glad it finally happened :) shame he didn’t live to see it :(

The book was brilliant. I loved the manic depressive robot. I dug the dual headed Maverick president guy. 42! 42! And the mice are the true dominant power figures on planet Earth!

God, I’m so distracted by Two Towers playing beside me.

Seeing it in the theater didn’t happen. Although, i did end up checking out Kung Fu Hustle; now THAT was a theater must-see!

I am now about half-through the first book. I’m still not too sure whether the movie goes beyond that. I’ll probably delve into Restaurant At The End of the Universe just to play it safe. My logic is since i intend to eventually read all 6 books, i wouldn’t want the movie to ruin the plot for me by going ahead of me in the story. Plus, i don’t know if i’ll even be able to put it down; this is the most hilarious book i have ever read.

I acquired my very own copy of the Complete Hgttg. Black hardcover with “gold” gilded pages and built-in bookmark. It was a steal priced at $16.98 (me, of course, paying less than retail list price-woo hoo employee priveledges)! Honestly, i prefer paperback but my cheapness won out. The hard was actually cheaper than the soft. Go figure.

I’ve always clarified that i am a nerd and not a geek, but alas there is a geeky side to me. Though typically with sci-fi movies i skip the book and just see the flick on the silver screen, this was different because so many people felt so strongly about the book. I figure’d i’d give it a go. Couldn’t hurt. And since I’ve decided to read it, it now must be completed b4 actual viewage of the upcoming film. It’s doable. I just hafta finish my current read (Me Talk Pretty…).

Soon I’ll be able to figure out what the fuck 42 means!
