I just visited Asheville for the first time a few days ago. Great little town, AWESOME beer (and I am so not a beer lover), lots of cool, friendly people, and the mountains are wonderful. I definitely want to go back. I wouldn’t mind living there, but I’ve heard the job market is not so good. Jack in the Wood is a great little pub—EXCELLENT Irish music session on Sundays. NC Arboretum has the most beautiful bonsai I’ve ever seen. Next time I’m going to the Biltmore whether my hipster friends go or not!

I visited Asheville right after the floods, so many things were still shut down/in recovery mode. I’d like to go back and see it again some day. It looked like a really neat town.
you can always meet some cool people in asheville at http://www.talkasheville.com pretty good for those people who relocate to the asheville area
I love Asheville- my mom lives there. It’s such a laid back, funky little town. Great art community, restaurants (esp. for all of you vegetarians out there). Everyone’s so openminded. Walking downtown you’ll see men in suits talking with people with dreadlocks down to their waist, it’s just a Happy Place.
Lol- I spent last Halloween there with my mom- FUN! They had a big drum circle going on, I lost count of how many costumes were ‘pot heads’ (flower pot on their head ;). To top it off we met 2 young guys who hit on us and we ended up hanging out with. The guy I met looked EXACTLY like Johnny Depp. Head to toe in leather though! And the guy hitting on my mom was probably 25 and kept swearing we were sisters. Lol, made both of our nights!
My boyfriend and I took a trip from Virginia to Asheville – Shenandoah Drive to Blue Ridge Parkway. It took a lot longer than I expected, but the scenery was worth it. Asheville itself is a vibrant artist community. The city is dominated by the Biltmore estate. Worth the visit – but if you are looking for something like an ancient French villa or estate, it isn’t like that. It is a commercial enterprise and was only lived in for less than 50 years as a home. The weather is moderate. The scenery is worth the visit itself. I would highly recommend going there.
I didn’t really enjoy the visit. The city was creepy and very dark in nature. I went on the 4th of July and watched fireworks at their city celebration. There were some nice people, but overall very creepy.
