do 100 hours of community service

volunteer hours log -

9/29/09 – 5.5 hours painting a bench and some metal beams for an outdoor walkway of a housing development for low-income seniors, (as well as waiting around for a bunch of corporate and pr people to finish their speeches about how great disney is for giving back to the community. good morning america photo-ops with donald & daisy, angry residents complaining that we werent really doing anything and that there were parts of the property that were in disrepair and really needed our attention unlike the areas we were told to work on while photographers went around taking pictures of the volunteers who had decided to don their mickey ears and glove in addition to their disney logo shirts which we were strongly encouraged to wear and made to stand in a line to receive along with the wristbands that allowed us in to the event. wow that might be the longest sentence i have ever constructed)

I did 339 Hours of Community service hours all during one school year. I helped Everywhere possible such as church,School,soup kitchen,USPS, and many more places.

I’m up to 3 and a half. Oh wow, I need to commit to this goal soon!!!

lol, well, i was close, but now that i’m old enough, i think i’d spend my free time getting a job, rather than focusing on community service – as horrible as that sounds (of course, i’m still going to volunteer, just not as much). i really could use the money.

I want to do this to receive more recognition from good schools and to be able to wear a tassle at graduation.

Community service is what you call volunteering when it’s not voluntary.

But for me it was.

so over the summer i was a counselor at Walden West and received 55 hours. at first i only did it because of service hours, but that week was the highlight of my summer. when i volunteered for daycares it was so boring and the kids could get on my nerves a bit, but Walden West.. is my home away from home. i had so much fun. little things made my day, and it was so cute when two of the boys in my group held on to me when we did our night hike and then they asked for my presence next to them at night. <3
