on to aquajogging!
How I did it: I started walking to lose weight, and gradually built up some strength, and endurance to do other physical activities. Once I got a good base from walking, I decided to enroll in a bootcamp. The bootcamp had modified exercises to suit my fitness level, and from doing this it helped me to lose enough weight to start considering jogging as the next step.
I saw an ad for a running clinic so I enrolled in the running clinic, and then started running. At first it seemed ok running, but once the minutes added it became more challenging so I can't say that I loved jogging right away, but once I built more endurance, and lost more weight it became more enjoyable.
I can now say that after several months of jogging, I actually enjoy doing it, and feel like something is missing when I don't go for my scheduled runs during the week.
Lessons & tips: Try different fitness activities, and try them for a while before you make a decision whether or not you like it.

because I am now enjoying my run/walking because of new shoes, and because I love running away from the shark when I get on the rowing machine!

which sounds like a great idea to me.
I also did a nifty run/walk last night in the glorious sunset, and ran into two of my favorite dogs and their people.

I like tennis a lot. I totally suck, but I love it. And I like bowling…does bowling count as fitness? Hmm, let’s see what else…I enjoy hiking, but only with people I really like. Hiking is almost sacred to me. And I like walking, biking, and, of course, kickball!

and if I get in, I’ll get to do the race with my sister in S.F. So I’ve already started slooooooowly getting on the treadmill, mostly walking…

long walks, hard bike rides, kayaking, swimming (though I’m not a good swimmer and have a bad shoulder which reacts painfully to over-the-head activities such as hanging curtains or the freestyle stroke), hiking…and I like a lot of gym-type fitness activities in small doses, like the aerobic machines (stairsteppers, elliptical, stationary bikes) or classes.
I find Pilates a challenge, both to start and to stick with, but it’s by far the most bang for the time I put into it.

The last two days, I’ve been going to the gym to prove a point…that I can get back on the weight training wagon. I’m challenging myself to do it four days in a row (upper/lower/upper/lower), and if I do, I’ll buy myself the first Scissor Sisters CD.
Tomorrow is Day 3. Cross your fingers!

Especially excellent “Without a Trace” on at the gym last night, so I did 40 plus minutes of cardio…now, if only we could have tiny, tiny TVs in all the weight machines…
