Since the 1990s I have been traveling this highway that begins/ ends in Puerto Montt, Chile to Artic, Alaska(a town I can not find on any map). I travel this highway in sections & covered about 1/2 the journey, from San Pedro de Atacoma, Chile(Northern Chile); through all of Peru into Ecuador up to the equator; about 1 hour north of Quito. Also from Costa Rico (San Jose), through Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatamala, Mexico and northern Montana near Great Falls. The trip to Costa Rico & back took 7 weeks. The trip will be a round trip, & as for as I know, no one ever did this journey round trip. My next journey will take me back to San Jose, Costa Rico through Panama where the highway turns into a trail for about 90 miles of the brutal Darian Gap. Its about a 3 week hike to Turbo, Columbia. So, I will consider going down to Puerto Bello, Panama to catch a “Banana Boat” to Columbia. So for I have no or little problems with this incredible journey. I had to fly to Peru & Ecuador twice to continue my goals. So for the journey cost me about $5000 & took almost 4 months maybe more.
