So I’m a media planner/buyer. It’s my job to be on top of, or at least aware of, new trends. By far, the majority of new trends are internet- and technology-related. SO I’ve joined twitter! I figure I’ll keep it up for a couple weeks, and if I’m hooked by then I’ll keep it up. And in the meantime, I’ll hopefully figure out what the big deal is! Are any of you on it? If you follow me, I’ll follow you! ;)
In addition, earlier this week we had an interdepartmental ‘share’ with contact (media) and PR, talking about our work with blogs. The PR department does a lot of pitching to different blogs, as well as actually writing one for a client. Contact takes care of the paid ads that run alongside of blogs! Pretty interesting stuff. Anyway, people were impressed to hear that I have my own blog, despite the fact that I haven’t really kept it current. So I’ve decided it’s time to resurrect lou-la-la!

Well, after giving him several days to respond, I finally sent him the following message:
Hey John,
Sorry if it seems like I’ve been hounding you, which is totally not what I want to be doing. I’m not looking for a serious relationship, and I get the impression that you think I am. I was having a lot of fun just dating you casually! I really like spending time with you, but it doesn’t need to be anything more than that. But if you would rather just be friends, I would really like to know that.
He responded with the print version of “let’s just be friends.” As much as it sucks, it’s better to know. In the wise words of Nada Surf, even if you’ve gone together for only a short time, and haven’t been too serious, there’s still a feeling of rejection when someone says he prefers the company of others to your exclusive company.

So! My godson was born in March, and his baptism is coming up in a couple weeks. I’m using my camp paycheck to set up a couple things:
1) 529 College Savings Plan, to be presented to his parents, and built up by the whole family until he goes to college
2) A second, secret account I’ll add to whenever I’m able, which will be his high school graduation present
I just had NO idea this chubby little guy would mean so much to me. I never could have imagined it.

at least all the work goals. But I need to work on my exams. Work has been my priority and I need to change it to school. I did accomplish a lot before it needed to be done. So that’s progress.

get the FSR Web site finished.
get the badge tracking tool updates finished.
look into the connectivity for the new stations.
Work on my exams.
get the box out of 600.
clean up my office in 264.
That’s enough for now.

2003 taxes submitted and $$ sent in for 2006 and 2007. I really want to get my 2006 taxes finished and out of my life!!! This is the closest I have been to being caught up in years and now I want taxes out of my life. I am taking a few days off of work to stay home and clean/sort/organize things since I still have boxes of mail that needs to be gone thru from my trips over the last 2 years.
That’s sad…

This is the one task that I always put off. I just hate doing taxes. (I know, I should hire someone to do them for me. Maybe next year.) I need to finish my 2003 taxes and I’ve been putting them off. Luckily, I have until Tuesday and then I’ll be down to one year – 2006. It will be so nice to be caught up with my taxes. Then I will stay on top of them so I don’t dread doing them for years.
That’s being proactive. :)

I’m in a quandry at work because there are some serious problems that need to be addressed, and the people who need to address them don’t want to hear about them. I’m tired of trying to get them to step up to the plate and take owernship of the problems. I can’t fix the problems on my own. So I can continue to beat my head against a wall and try to get them to wake up, or I can just say “Everything’s fine” and give up.
Since I can’t change their focus, should I change my attitude? Is that being proactive?

This is it. I have 2 months to finish my comps. I need to focus on school and stop surfing the Internet all evening. My plan is to download one good article every day that I can use. Also, I’ll work for an hour every night on school.
Wish me luck.

Two big tasks at work that needed to be done, but caused a lot of work to make sure that things went smoothly. I have one more thing to take care of tomorrow, and then I think I need a few days to catch up with my life. I’m tired!!
Still it’s better to be on top of these situations, then running around after them trying to patch things up.
