Last night, I followed this sequence:
- Had some herbal tea after dinner.
- Put several things away that were decluttering the living room and bedroom.
- Prepared my snacks for tomorrow.
- Put on my puffy bathrobe.
- Brushed, flossed, and rinsed.
- Washed my face and applied moisturizer.
I guess the beautiful part is the tea, the puffy bathrobe, and the personal care; the tranquility was the peace of mind that resulted from what needed to be done (putting things away, preparing snacks).

I usually manage to have a chai and practice guitar, and sometimes a bath with candles if I’m feeling luxurious

I like this new routine but have still not incorporated the bath. I think I will have to wait on this part until my kitten is big enough to move to another room. There would be nothing peaceful about a bath with him trying to get into the bathtub with me. He is adorably distracting enough when I am taking my shower each morning.
As for the rest, it’s all good.

I haven’t worked the candlelit bath in yet, but I am doing most of the other steps. We’ll see how it goes as I implement the full routine.

For a tranquil evening routine, I thought this would work well for me, beginning about 1 1/2 hours before bedtime:
- Jot down thoughts/concerns on my mind so I can let them go.
- Brush & floss teeth
- Wash and moisturize face
- Bath with soothing music and candles
- Say goodnight to cats
- Take medicine
- Check to make sure alarm is set
- Read Bible
- Pray
- Do crosswords
- Listen to quiet music
- Fall asleep
Now I just need to implement this. I will begin tonight.

I have a lot of problems getting to sleep and staying asleep. I’m not sure if having a beautiful tranquil evening routine will help me stay asleep, but I certainly think it would help me get to sleep. I’ll work on it.

- prepare next meal and lunch boxes for next day
- lay out clothes for next day
- rest, enjoy, read something
- eat
- rest
- go for a walk while it’s nice cold outside
- and then watch some tv and go to bed early
but it can wait 2 more weeks…
