I was hoping that I would be able to do this in 07 but it looks like it might be 08… I’ve got people that can speak Chinese going to Taiwan and a friend going to Brazil for super cheap so It looks like those will be my 07 destinations… but I am going to keep this up just in case one of those plans fall through… cant wait for this one though…

Backpacking was a blast, one of the coolest day trips I did was into Fort Mcgovenry (SP?) an abandoned World War two fort, it was during a heavy rainstorm and you can only reach it by hiking along the beach at low tide. I know that man made structures are not the most beautifull but just to apreciate the isolation of the area was awesome. I mean how rarely do we get to visit a building that is 60+ years old and still has glass in the windows because everyone who goes there is there to enjoy the place and not to deface it. And I saw like four bald eagles on the way in which made my day. Seven miles in Seven miles out, the trailhead is kinda near Seward.

Backpacking Alaska was a blast. Bald eagles, Northern Lights, tundra—all very cool. But using the rentacar to get in was kind of a waste. If I ever go back, I will either get the bush pilot or just head out into the Chugach.
