I want to make to do lists on a everyday basis and stick to them. Also, when I am finished with freezing my larger goals, I shall break into smaller microlevel-per-day-achievable-goals and would stick to them.

Rachael wants to get more goals ticked off, sooner!
And it is definitely working, as I am getting almost everything done, and the things that aren’t getting done I have either decided not to do, or can wait until the next day.
Weird bit of psychology for me. If I write it down, I feel I have to be able to cross it off, but if I don’t write things down, it’s not concrete, and I forget what it was I wanted to do.

How do I know what tasks are wasting my time, and which are good? I enjoy films, and Sims 2, but are they good uses of my time? And if not, what should I be doing instead?
Time, it’s a bitch.

Things that I should do every day
1. Wake up early (8am or so)
2. Exercise for half an hour
3. Read a book for half an hour +
4. Study my Swedish for an hour
5. Cook tea (and try new recipes as much as possible)
These are the most important, and they don’t actually take that much time. This still gives me plenty of time for when I watch a film, listen to an album, or craft. But why do I need to have a to-do list for these things to be done? Argh, I just get fed up with writing them, but I guess if it works, they’re worth it.

I have been reading a series of books which follows a family through their emigration from Sweden to America, and in so doing, some people die, others are born, and the world keeps on spinning. But because of a similar theme in the book and my life (having recently emigrated from England to Sweden), my thoughts have settled on some of the thoughts and feelings these characters had.
I wonder if I will ever live in England again, I miss my family back home, and I wish we could live in the same country. I worry that with all that I want to achieve, will it get done, and will I have fun doing it? And who knows how much time I even have? Perhaps I should do some of those more important things and not wait. The future is so uncertain! I try to do my best, and I think for the most part I’m doing okay, it’s just the uncertainty I cannot stand.

Well, let’s see. There’s the IMDb top 250 film list I want to complete, I want to read 30 books this year, I want to make a couple of Christmas presents (sewing and embroidery mainly), there’s a ton of places I want to go, and I want to progress in some of my other goals here, such as losing weight, getting kittens, learning Swedish, etc. A lot of the time, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to do it all.

or should i say organise my life better :p somehow, whenever I’m having a day off, there’s a 3 hour gap between the moment I wake up and the moment I actually start doing something. Whenever I’m working (at home) and I take a break, the break turns out to be a 2 hour break instead of the 10min I planned. Everytime I have a week off, I think yeahhh I’m gonna do lots of stuff this week! At the end off the week I haven’t even done half of it.

This also brings in not watching so much TV – where a lot of time is wasted too.
Perhaps if I get back to writing lists of what I want to achieve in a day – something realistic – perhaps a two part list of simple and achievable and then extras that could be done on top of that for the day. I like my lists but I have to be strong and stick to them and even make a plan for each item on the list of how I expect to achieve it and what my rewards for the day will be when I achieve my goals

I am not sure how to make better use of my time or at least to organise myself not to waste my time. Should I try to get more books out of the library so that I at least read something instead. So much time is wasted infront of the TV. It isn’t so bad when I am by myself (or is it) but I feel better organised when my time is my own and I have only myself to consider. I need to make some commitments to some projects or activities that can utilise my time better – perhaps do some hand quilting, I mean it isn’t as though there are not enough quilts to be done and it is a good project to do while listening to music (instead of watching TV)

Eimear can't believe her dissertation is finally finished
a goal to tick a box and say “achieved”!! However, I have had a good look at some of my unnoticed time using activities, and have let some of them go, so I am counting that as success.
Other aspects of organising my time will be covered under ‘be focused and determined’.
