How I did it: I complained, I cried, I worried, I worked hard, I set goals, I accomplished some and failed others, I applied, I stressed out, I waited, I cried some more, and I got my letter of acceptance from Claremont McKenna -- a liberal arts college in southern California :). Read how I did it…
How I did it: I have never really wanted to go to college, but near the end of my senior year I applied for Richard Bland College. I got in. My Guidance lady Ms. Higbee could have down a back flip. =) Read how I did it…
How I did it: Working hard all through high school is a big plus, and having things to put on an application definitely helps, like clubs, job experience, volunteer work, sports, anything you do besides classes that not every one else does. It doesn't help though to be in 50 different clubs but not participate, if you can get into a leadership position it shows that you really dedicated yourself to something outside of schoolwork. How I did it: -Found a College advisor to help me with the application process.-Made audition CDs for my applications.-Wrote my essay 2 months ahead of time so that I wasn't waiting until the last minute.-Visited all my colleges in August-October. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I'm really not sure how I did it - some of it was luck, I guess. I only got into my reach and my fallback schools, which is actually a pretty weird predicament - I can't imagine it happens to many people. Read how I did it…

I’m technically adding this in retrospect, since I just now signed up for this account, and am about to graduate from high school. It was a pretty important goal in my life for the last half year or so, though, so I feel justified in putting this one down!
I got into:
UNC-Asheville
UNC-Chapel Hill
New College of Florida
Duke University (this one was a bit of a reach, so I was thrilled to be accepted!)
And I decided to attend New College. Yay!
I’ve been on my own for over 3 years now, and working instead of going to school. A while ago I decided that as long as I’m going to work my ass off, it should be towards something, rather than struggling to barely scrape by. I couldn’t get back school because I’m working full time (at the moment I’m working 2 jobs and 7 days a week).
A couple days ago I just met with the financial aid lady at the local community college. I’ll be taking out some loans and hopefully be getting some grants. I’ll be getting back in school this fall though, and after VC, I’ll be transferring to a university. :-)

I’m currently a junior in high school, even though I’m almost eighteen years old. Which is mostly the reason I’d prefer to drop out of high school and get my GED and then move onto a community college. Even though my sister attend the same community college I want to go to, my parents don’t accept this plan. If I have to wait the two months until I’m eighteen to drop out and get my GED, I’m not going to be able to live with my parents through college, which is gonna make things a lot more difficult and prolong this goal for much longer! I guess we’ll see what happens… :\
I’ve struggled throughout high school and now i’m facing the consequences of not doing my work. Now my goal is to work harder then I’ve ever worked in my life to reach the goal of transferring into a real university.
I am either going to be accepted into an Art Institute or will be attending a community college for a year.
but Ultimately, I would like to go to a 4 year university and study commercial design.
I got into NYU and the University of Chicago with a $10,000 scholarship. One week until I hear from the rest
I’ve applied to a college in Edinburgh to study horticulture. It’s been a week, and they haven’t made a decision yet. I’m scared!
I’ve applied to four colleges in The Netherlands until now. I hope I get into one of them at least :)
close_behind has a new attitude!
I’ve gone to three different colleges and all of them have been community colleges. Not that they’re bad, but it’s time for me to get into a four year school so I can get my degree. I have several obstacles to get through before I can even get through the door. I’m hoping it works out.
get into college
