I've done this 5 months ago

in my own weird way. I’ve found I am a nap person, if I take a nap during the day, after I get out of school, or home from work, I stay up longer and function better. If I try to go to bed early, it just doesn’t work well. So Know Thyself I guess.

So achieving this goal for me is just understanding how my body works. So I’m off for a little siesta…

I am getting better. Problem is one of my good friends calls and wants to hang out late night. Hubby works all night, and it’s fun to yak on the phone or hang out with him (he’s gay, no drama). So much more interesting than, let’s say, sleep.

It’s funny cause I see a goal here for some people is to have late night conversations with interesting people. So I guess I might have this one Done a little too well! =)

So I gotta balance more, but I have been shutting the computer down and just going to bed more on a consistence basis. So progress not perfection…

This is a big downfall for me. 8 months ago

I don’t want to do it anymore. The computer, arrrrgh! And I am worthless the next day. So I read from another 43 thinger who did this, to just read before bed (their problem was TV, mine computer). Yes, I can quit reading. So the beginning of achieving this goal is that the computer is off by midnight, latest. I might move that up to an earlier time later. But this is a BabyStep.

hahah 4am last night…had to get up at 7:00 for class too lol
No more, midnight at the latest from now on…eughhh falling asleep during class is just pointless.

I’m getting there.

This week, apart from one night where I stayed up to watch a film, I’ve managed to get off to bed around 10pm which is good because this is my target.

On the nights I actually read before going to bed, I definitely make it on time… I just need to work on always reading before I hit the sack!



Things getting in the way... 10 months ago

It’s harder than I thought it would be. Little things crop up and get in the way of my trying to go to bed at a reasonable hour.

I’ve managed around 10:30 – 11:00pm, but I was hoping of a more suitable hour like 10:00pm… I need my sleep to ensure I’m concentrating in lesson.

I’m just going to have to prioritise… TV does not come before my sleep!

I have delayed sleep phase syndrome. If left to my own devices, I will stay up for two or three days and sleep for one. That would be my ideal sleep cycle. However, reality won’t allow me to do that. So, I may not fall asleep until 2 or 3 but I still have to get up at 7. I sleep a lot on weekends and sometimes just stay up all week if Jerrad will let me. Generally speaking though, he makes me go to bed. I just lay there and wish I could fall asleep. I have a really bad habit of forcing my eyes shut so I squeeze my face up real tight to make them close and I eventually fall asleep like that, but then my face hurts all day the next day. He bought a sleeping mask for himself b/c our neighbor’s lights are so bright and shine right into the bedroom. He didn’t really like sleeping with it though. I’ve kinda taken that over. It’s really quite helpful. I think it’s been the most help. Sleep is perplexing. I blame someone in particular for me being this way, but I won’t name names. I’ll just have to suck it up and maybe someday I’ll be normal again…

harder than i thought... 14 months ago

I am having a lot of trouble with this…All summer long I stayed up to 3 or 4 in the morning chatting with my friends online…and now that school has started and I have to get up early, I am finiding it very hard to adjust. Lately Ive been going to bed around 1am, and waking up at 6:30 each morning is pretty difficult. I have the weekends to catch up on sleep…but dozing off in lectures isnt something I want to keep doing…I really need to manage my time better so that I wont have a reason to stay up so late…although even when I have nothing to do, I find it difficult to fall asleep early. This is not good.

Arrrg why do I keep on staying up late doing nothing…I really need to catch up on my sleep…I ended up sleeping through one of my lectures today…not good.

I have to get up at 6 tomorrow and I’m still up…and not even doing anything productive…I was doing homework…but it isnt due for a while…Ahhh why do classes have to start so early? >_<
