This really never ends, but I have learned Spanish and French 3 years ago

On the other hand, I could very much improve listening comprehension, fluency, even literacy, in varying degrees in the several dialects in which I am interested: Mexico City subdialects, Andalucian, Asturian, and Pyrenees dialects; Quebec French, Provencal, Parisian street slang, Haitian Creole.

Acquainting myself with Niyaanja/Niyanja 3 years ago

To say hello, how are you, “O pangi!”

Hello! 2006: my first poem in ASL 3 years ago

Hello!

(My right hand waves side to side,
several times;i point to you:
Then my right angle hands, palms facing
and thumbs pointing up,
are swept toward the sternum,
until the fingertips come to touch
my mid-breast)= Have
(my open right hand, palm facing me,
touches, as light striking,
my heart again and again,
moving from heart toward the sky
each time, expressing heart-stirring,
bubbles flowing upward) a Happy
(with both my hands palms to heaven
before my chi, then my right
hand sweeps in an arc concave upward
just a little, showing
i’m turning over a new leaf!) New
(my right ‘S’ hand, palm facing Left
represents the Earth;
it’s positioned atop the left ‘S’ hand
whose palm facing Right,
and represents the Sun.
The right ‘S’ hand describes a circle
clockwise around the left hand
coming to rest
in its original
position)
Year!

I AM DOING THIS SO THAT I CAN ADVANCE MY ABILITIES IN LIFE. THIS IS SOMETHING I CAN PUT ON MY RESUM`E AND DO ALSO FOR FUN. I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO TRAVEL AND IF YOU CAN’T COMMUNICATE THAN YOU WILL ALWAYS NEED EITHER A TRANSLATER OR AN ENTERPRETER.

Ich schriebe fur ein Journal. Mein Deutch ist sehr schade, Entschuldigung..

Salamista wrote:

Great, but it’s Entschuldigung. You can hear the “D” not “T”. (sehr not zer, schade not shade)
Anyway appreciating your effort. I’m learning German, like 4 or so years and I can’t say what I did today. I really don’t like working with this language without a dictionary. (And you have neglected tenses.)

—Thanks Salamista. I made the corrections, only, I had written schade, not shade, as you thought you noticed.

I’ve been using two programs, the one at BBC North Ireland, on Blas, and one from the maths profs at U. of Belfast. It’s going. But I need some people to practice with.

One step at a time — 25 weeks ago

While counting, sorting, re-counting, and entering data today, I came across several translations for “spark plugs.” I carefully copied the Arabic, with permanent marker, and set it up in my work space.

One step at a time, I shall learn it, insh’Allah.

I’ll be reading from Lohnes and Sthrothmann’s GERMAN: a Structural Approach. Library of Congress (LoC) number 67-11084. Copyright 1967, 1968 by Norton & Company, Inc.

The text was first tried out at Stanford University, in the autumn of 1962. On the average, the authors recommend two weeks for each unit. There are 13 units.
