A friend invited us to a local bar & grill to hear a local cover band, Even Steven, because she knows the lead singer/drummer. It was an unexpectedly good time, despite the fact I was recruited to join the band for tambourine in one song, early on! :D

I think I kept all the tickets… just have to find them somewhere… :)

Though we weren’t exactly front and center, seeing them at Summerfest last night was still great! I’ve always loved Second Chance, so it was so cool to hear it in person.
Here’s Julie and Mollie pre-concert, as we were enjoying our Forbidden Fruit martinis. Though you can’t really tell in the picture, this drink is literally Smokin’! There are dry ice pellets in it. :)

sort of count – Denis Leary. We went to see him in the windy city Saturday night, and sure there was stand-up, but he also had the band with him and they did probably 4 or 5 songs throughout. My favorite, because of its all-out silliness, was the Irish Drinking Song. I might just have to grab it on iTunes!

went to see Saving Abel, Shinedown and Buckcherry. Avenged Sevenfold was also supposed to be there, but they cancelled the day before, and since it was a week night and I was exhausted, we wouldn’t have stayed for them anyway.
Loved Saving Abel, Shinedown was OK, but Buckcherry was a disappointment – they don’t perform well live, and in fact the lead singer pissed me off in the intro to one of the songs and we left early.

to dinner and an Eileen Ivers concert this Saturday! Should be a lot of fun. Though I’ve never heard her stuff before, I’m sure I’ll love it.

I need to update this – went with friends last Friday night to see Rascal Flatts and Kellie Pickler. Can’t believe I’m doing some country now, but it was great fun!

to Cornerstone, a kind of Christian Woodstock, back in 1991. The kids were still young, so it was just a day trip, but it was really fun! One of the bands there was called Mastadon, which was basically a new incarnation of that 70’s band Kansas. But I guess that didn’t work out for them, ‘cuz maybe 8 or 9 years later they were touring as Kansas again and we saw them when they came to town with Jefferson Starship.
BTW, my friend Liz was actually AT Woodstock! She always was a free spirit.
